Pilat Traverse leaves Lyon behind and climbs into the forested hills, ridgelines and winding roads of the Pilat region before descending towards Annonay in northern Ardèche. Instead of the busy Rhône corridor, the Line follows quiet backroads with wide panoramas, wooded valleys and small villages. Shorter and sharper than before, it keeps the strongest part of the old Lyon–Valence connection and makes Annonay a natural intermediate Hub on the way south.
